Biography

 

The Lower-Austrian born musician Johannes Beranek stands out for his wide range of artistic work.  Johannes Beranek studies Orchestra Conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Prof. Mark Stringer.  Since March 2023, he works as Study Assistant for Opera Conducting at the MDW. As a conductor, Beranek worked with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Charkiv Opera Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, Camerata pro musica in Szombathley, Herzogenburger Sinfonieorchester, Chamber Orchestra Vienezza, Department of Opera at the MDW, among others. In 2021, Johannes Beranek founded the Festival „Sommernachtsklänge“ in Lower Austria.
 
In August 2023, Johannes took part in the Conducting Masterclass at the St. Andrews University with Prof. Sian Edwards. In 2024 he was a Conducting Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, where he made his American debut with works including Mahler’s Fifth Symphony, Debussy’s La Mer and the world premiere of Isabella Gellis‘ Four Morris Interludes.
Aside from conducting, Johannes Beranek also finished his bachelor in horn at the Music and Arts Private University in Vienna, and is now in his “Magister“ studies at  MDW with Prof. Christoph Peham. Since 2017, Johannes Beranek is also a Horn-Substitute in orchestras such as the Offstage-Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Tonkünstler-Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra and others.  Johannes Beranek is also successful as a composer and already won some prizes for his works, such as the 1st prize of the Austrian competition „Jugend komponiert“ in 2016 at the Festival „Aspekte“ in Salzburg. His works are performed in several festivals and concerts. In 2019, the CD „3 Generations“ was released, also featuring works of Kurt Schwertsik and Reinhard Süss. Johannes Beranek was born in 1998 in Lower Austria.
