Born in Lower Austria, Johannes Beranek is noted for his wide range of artistic work.

In 2024 he was a Conducting Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, where he made his American debut with works including Mahler’s Fifth Symphony, Debussy’s La Mer and the world premiere of Isabella Gellis‘ Four Morris Interludes.

Beranek assisted Petr Popelka and participated in his masterclass with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2024, where he conducted the third act of Wagner´s Tristan und Isolde. In February 2025, he was a „Quarter-Finalist“ of the „International Orchestra Conducting Competition“ of the Opera Royal de Wallonie Liège. In August 2023, Johannes took part in the Conducting Masterclass at the University of St. Andrews with Prof. Sian Edwards.
As a conductor, Beranek has worked with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Solnok Symphony Orchestra, the Charkiv Opera Orchestra, the Aspen Music Festival, Camerata pro musica, the Herzogenburger Sinfonieorchester and the Chamber Orchestra Vienezza, among others. In 2021, Johannes Beranek founded the festival „Sommernachtsklänge“ in Lower Austria. Since March 2023, he works as study assistant for opera conducting at the University of Music and Performing

Arts in Vienna, where he also studies orchestral conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Prof. Mark Stringer. 

 

 Johannes Beranek is also successful as a composer 

and has already won several prizes for his works, such as the 1st prize of the Austrian competition      „Jugend komponiert“ at the festival „Aspekte“ in Salzburg in 2016. In recent years, he has completed his first piano concerto, which he played at its premiere, and his first chamber symphony, which he also conducted at its premiere. In 2024 he composed his „Summer Suite“ for orchestra, which he dedicated to the festival „Sommernachstklänge“ in Lower Austria, which Beranek founded 5 years ago. It was also premiered there under the baton of Johannes Beranek.

 

In addition to his conducting studies, Johannes Beranek also completed his Bachelor’s degree in Horn at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and is currently studying for his Master’s degree at the MDW with Prof. Christoph
Peham.
